THE END. (+postcards)

A TRIP IS NOT A TRIP WITHOUT POSTCARDS.

Here are a collection of the postcards i bought whilst in Paris... I hope you love them as much as i do.

THE BEST THING I BOUGHT WHILST IN PARIS.
(other than food).

PARIS=POSTCARD HEAVEN.
the end.

WE'RE GOING HOME.

SATURDAY 13TH FEBRUARY 2010.

So, the end of the trip starts here. After an early start and a bit of breakfast, we all head to the coach to load our suitcases and get wrapped up warm to sleep on the coach journey home. We set off around 7.15am, and to be honest it all seems a bit of a blur due to continuously falling in and out of a weird sleep, which I guess was good in a way as it made the journey go quicker than on the way there!
Me and Jo made sneaky sandwiches to munch on the way home... (save the pennies!) and i ate them as i finished watching The September Issue, (Brilliant, watch it).

sneaky sandwich...

At about 5.30pm, we arrived back at Uni, and as i dragged my suitcase home in the rain, (good old english welcome home.) i realised how amazing the trip was. (although a future recommendation to any one else going there in the month of february... take LOTS of warm clothes, and extremely thick socks!)

Got back to my flat & bonjoured my flatmates, and was straight into cooking a Valentines meal for my boyfriend who was coming up from London that evening. Lucky him!

DAY 5. WERE OFF TO PREMIERE VISION.

FRIDAY 12TH FEBRUARY 2010.

Day 5, and everyone is starting to feel a longing to go home and get in their own bed and sleep, sleep, sleep. But we man it out, grab some breakfast, (i made sneaky sandwiches to take with me for later) and head off on the coach to PREMIERE VISION, the worlds premier fabric show.

Unfortunatly, we weren't allowed to take photographs in the building, however, i collected SOO much stuff/paper/freebies/magazines and made a lot of notes for the up and coming Topman Design menswear project. If you want to see pictures of the event. CLICK HERE.

A few of the magazines i got...

From the info i collected from the event, i created these moodboards to show my predicted trends for Menswear S/S '11 for a presentation i did when back in the UK.

Overall, i really enjoyed the day at Premiere Vision, and found a lot of useful information for future projects.

We headed back on the coach at around 4, and after dropping our hoards of paper and bits and bobs back into our hotel rooms, me and Mily went into Paris one final time to FIND FOOD. We found another cute little restaurant I had spaghetti bolognaise washed down with apple juice before yet another CREPE! It had to be done, last night in Paris and all that! This time i had coconut and chocolate, and that was definitely the best combo of the whole trip.

Hung around in Paris for a bit, laughing at the fact that i loved crepes so much that if given the chance, i would definitely become a 20 stone beast working behind a crepe stand.

Then, for the last time, got the metro back to the hotel, and packed all my stuff before falling into bed for some well earned kip.

DAY 4. LETS FIND COLETTE!

THURSDAY 11TH FEBRUARY 2010.

Day 4, and my cold had started to kick in at it's worst so I slept through breakfast with the aim to eat LOADS when i got into Paris (food is always on the brain. ha) Jo, Mily, Rosie and me headed off bright and early to find famous french fashion boutique, COLETTE.

We got there eventually, after almost walking past it, OOPS! and took a long look inside at all the incredible things you could buy. It had such a beautiful layout, almost as if you were discovering new sections as you walked around. There were so many gadgets, cameras, watches, phones, USBs, CD's etc, all of which i wanted to pick up and touch due to the amazing designs and colours.

I especially loved the first floor, as rather than clothes on rails, mannequins were dressed in full outfits, which unfortunately you couldn't take photos of else they told you off in very scary french voices. The overall feel was a lot of nude colours, soft floral prints, and amazing beige/brown suede trainer inspired heels.

The best section of the shop was a Keith Haring designed boxed off area, where there were a range of shoes he had produced alongside Tommy Hilfiger displayed in the middle of typical Keith Haring print walls. It was incredible, and i really wanted to buy his journal, but definitely decided that food was wayy more important and that i would try and find it on amazon when i was back in the UK!

We then grabbed some food before heading to see Le Louvre...Me and Mily had THE MOST AMAZING chocolate puddings, so yummy and gooey i wanted to be sick and eat more at the same time?! Saw some amazing pop-up postcards on the way... I have always loved the idea of pop up postcards.

Mine.
Mily's.

My favourites from LE LOUVRE.

I saw my friend Steph from Leicester whilst i was in here, it was so random cause we'd been trying to meet up for weeks but could never manage to, yet we were in the middle of Paris and bumped into eachother!!
chasing pigeons.as you do.

the architecture was amazing.

i think i loved the floors and building work more than the paintings?
the view.

had to see her.
Then we headed off to the POMPIDOU, which was absolutely incredible, the architecture of the building was so amazing to look at, almost like a warehouse feel to it? especially with the neon lights that are so often in American bars. My favourite museum by far. Free again for students so made the trip even more enjoyable.

loved how intricate and girly this was, especially with Valentines Day coming up..

There were alot of cabinets with the most incredible graphics work in... loved them all but here are a few...

Brilliant interactive installation... Had to have a go...

The view from the top.
The GIFT SHOP.

After a quick snap from Monolop, me and Mily headed off to find PRINTEMPS, the department store. Mily knew there was some amazing Alice in Wonderland Visual Merchandising so we found it and got to work with our cameras. I loved the layout of the windows, with each designer having their own window displaying their Alice in Wonderland inspired outfit. When we got inside, the theme carried on to a small Alice in Wonderland cafe, which looked so adorable with a huge hanging teapot, small mismatched tables, and amazing visuals running alongside the escalators.

Alot like the mad hatters tea party!

THE WINDOWS.

Again, so tired from an amazing, but long day, and headed home with our snacks to get a good nights sleep before the trip to Premiere Vision on our last day tomorrow!
